MEC Restaurant
Located in the central Fairfax district, whose neighbors include kosher markets, skateboard shops, art galleries and a silent movie theater, MEC restaurant was designed as a response to the client’s vision of a French bistro meets 1900’s industrial warehouse. The bar is situated adjacent to the entry, while the large main dining room aligns with new windows in the front façade, allowing pedestrians to get a sense of the experience that awaits. The existing steel and wood truss structure is exposed, providing an organizational guide around which the new millwork is designed. The finishes contrast warm and cold, with wood paneling and burgundy walls playing off of a concrete floor and metal mesh curtains.
