An addition and renovation to an existing one story house in Culver City transforms the entirety of the building by using a folded modernist wrapper to connect old and new. The two story rear addition adds a master suite and design studio with large expanses of glass opening the space to the sky. The roof of the kitchen and dining area is raised to 12 feet, and serves as the connector between a new porch in the front and a rear covered deck area at the rear. The building opens toward the street and its scale made appropriate for its single family neighborhood context.
